Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini TaylorMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
I know I said I would review this later, but I can’t help myself. I need to share what I’m feeling, I need it now!!!
.
The Plot — I don’t even know where to begin. This plot is crazy, man. I’ll try to make this simple, but I can’t promise anything. So, Karue is this teenager girl living in Prague. She loves to draw, have a kick ass friend and a boyfriend you want to kick in the ass. She has blue hair and hamsa's eyes tattooed on her palms. She works doing errands for a chimera named Brimstone. All is well and crazy as always until some strange black hand marks starts to appear on Brimstone doors all around the world. That, my friends, is the first sign of the vent hitting the shit. No, is not the other way around, cose when the vent hit the shit, oh man, the shit hit everywhere and everyone.
The Characters — Unique doesn’t even cover how awesome these characters are.
Let’s start by the main character:
Karou
She is talented and kicks ass like no one else. I love how sweet and vindictive she can be. Just like a real girl LoL. In the beginning of the book she had her heart broken and she makes him pay in the most enjoyable way evah. I love her.
Zuzana
She is Karou’s best friend and the scariest short girl you will ever meet. Zuz is an artist and her mind is out of this world. Maybe that’s why she’s Karou’s best friend and why I love her so.
Kazimir
Remember how I told you that Karou had her heart broken? Well, this is the jack ass that broke it. Selfish, chitting, drop dead sexy, sweet talker, son of a bitch, jack ass. Or, as Brimstone once said, an Inessential penis.
Akiva
This is what I call an essential penis. A warrior with flaming wings and a bleeding heart. *sigh*
The Writing — Oh, this writing is every reader’s wet dream. I don’t like much details cose my attention span is, as I said many, many times before, of a 5yo. So it took me a while to get into this book, but I have to say that once I was in I didn’t want to get out. Reading this book was like being naked feeling a thousand butterflies over my body. It may not seem too good, but the wings flapping tickle me. I like tickles. *giggle* Bottom line is, I feel ashamed and unworthy of writing a review of a book so wonderfully writing. There are no words I can use to make it justice. So I’ll give you a pic to show how awesome it is.

The Audio Book Recording — I love this girl accent. Zuz reading made me go and start to learn speak Romanian. For reals. I went to google and started to try to speak. So lame. The volume was nice, the tone had a nice modulation and the interpretation was really good. This book is subdivided in parts and there’s a really cool soundtrack that made it really scary and dramatic. I really like this recording. It really put me in the mood.
Considerations — I love this book. It's the kind of book you keep trying to decipher every step of the way and makes you crazy how you can't ever get it right. It drove me crazy the fact I couldn't figure it out on my own what Brimstone did with all those teethes. Even though I love this book to the point of wanting to start stalking its author, I have to admit that this book isn’t for everyone. In order to love this book you need to have a very open mind and really like craziness. You also have to love fairy tales and star-crossed lovers. Ok, imagine this: Romeo & Juliet +Tristan & Isolde + A Midsummer Night's Dream + Matrix + Iron Fey + Pocahontas + Helen of Troy = PURE AWESOMENES !!!!!
I can’t say more or else I’ll ruin the most wonderful story ever. Just trust me. You need to read this!!!!! NOW!!!!! Really, this book made me want to dye my hear blue and made me draw an eye on my palm with a pen, while I was at work for crying out loud!!! GO.READ.THIS.BOOK.NOW!

I am so glad you finally freaking read this book after six months of me telling you how good it was. I hear ya about the dying the hair blue thing.
ReplyDeleteI know right? I said before and I'll repeat it now: I should just shut up and read anything you tell me to. LoL
DeleteI was just reading the review again and I felt a pain in my chest remembering of all the things I've seen and dreamed while reading this book. This is one of those books that creeps in and leave you feeling the aftershocks for a while.
Akiva *sigh* I just, I don't know, my heart cries everytime I close my eyes and see his face and how... OH MY GOSH! Stop! I'm too fangirl right now. Sorry.
