Review: Zombies, they can ruin your life, just like Dr Phil

Married with Zombies (Living with the Dead, #1)Married with Zombies by Jesse Petersen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Plot - As it says on the summery, a couple is having some problems with their marriage and are trying to solve them with professional counseling. Pretty normal and, to be honest, pretty boring. However, this is just the first pages of the story and when you least expect *boom* the doctor is trying to eat you alive. THAT is not normal or boring at all, right. Who would’ve guessed that a zombie break out would be the thing to save a failed marriage? I sure didn’t. Well, it’s a nice and kind of cool plot.

The Characters - Jane and Dave are pretty ordinary and nothing at all special in any way. This is something new, since every book about the paranormal I read has characters with something special *jazz hands here* about them. It’s cool to watch the average Jo dealing whit exceptional situations once in a while.

The Audiobook - This is a “ok” reading for me. The narrator was a little flat on the reading and didn’t give me much emotion even on the really scary parts. I wish it had a little more interpretation and , I don’t know, charisma, maybe.

The Writing - It’s a nice one and has a good flow to it, but is nothing special.

Considerations - Overall it’s a good story, it has good characters and that’s it. It’s just good. I didn’t feel connected to the book and all and all, the whole thing rolled over me like a wave leaving no great impression. However, I found some interesting things like the whole “Everybody-is-trying-to-eat-us-and-we-need-to-do-something-or-else-we’ll-end-up-zombie-lunch-or-worse-,-zombies-our-selves” thing. I don’t care how many times this is played, is always crap-your-pants-scary. The jokes was funny and pleasant too. Specially the Doctor Phill one. LoL
Now, seriously, Zombie Apocalypse is right there on the corner and we should be prepared for it. Go and read all you can read and watch all you can watch about them and how they act and fight. Once they attack, there’s no time to lose.

Review: Words, nothing more than words

Knees: The mixed up world of a boy with dyslexiaKnees: The mixed up world of a boy with dyslexia by Vanita Oelschlager

This is a really sweet story about a boy that has dyslexia and is truly honest about the difficulties a child encounters while trying to fit in with the world.
Everybody feels inadequate at least once in life and don’t even has to have any special problem. Being normal is not something easy to be, but being special is even harder. To feel stupid and just wrong among all the other people sucks, to say the least.
What I liked in this book and think is the main reason everybody should read it is simple: The message in it.
Book messages are subjective, so I’ll tell what I read into it and you can judge *after reading the book yourself* if I’m right or wrong.
Life sucks sometimes. *wait, that’s not the whole message* Life sucks, however, you can’t live your life trying to do or be like everybody else. This is meant to fail.
When I was at school I wanted to be as good volleyball player as my friends were, but I sucked. In fact, I think I still do. In life there’ll always be something that you can’t do as good as the other people do, but you can’t be sad or feel bad about it. You just have to keep looking for the thing you are meant to do, the person you are meant to be.
When you find the world will surely stop sucking and, even being different, won’t seem as bad as used to be. Once you finds and accept yourself, everybody will just follow your lead.
That’s the message I got from this story and it certainly made me feel better. And you know what? Being weird is cool!
